About the forth NextGen cohort at Hardware Park
Hardware Park’s NextGen program is a hands-on engineering program for students in Alabama. Our NextGen interns gain access to industry-proven prototyping processes, medtech mentorship, and real-world project experience, setting them on a path to becoming future leaders in engineering and design.
This cohort's interns are all students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
The Projects
Accessirise
Originally provided by Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, this project is a continuation of prototype development started by the Summer 2024 NextGen cohort. The 3-person team (which includes 2 members of the original Accessirise team) will continue development on the portable wheelchair ramp prototype to further address customers’ wants and needs of the product.
Endoswipe
This project started as a class project for two UAB students, both of whom are part of the Fall 2024 NextGen cohort. The 3-person NextGen project team (including the two who originated the project) will continue development of the concept prototype that is intended to aid medical providers in making endoscopy procedures more efficient and safer for patients.
NephSol
A 4-person NextGen intern team will work with 2024 Alabama Launchpad winner NephSol, Inc. to further develop their product concept.
